     A while back, my son and I were hunting up at Pumpville.It was late in the season .Hunting was tough .It got down to about 10 degrees,one of the coldest days of the year.We could stay in a heated trailer(拖车）with some other hunters.BUt my son said,"No,Dad.Let's stay in the tent.Let's rough it"
     Well, we practically froze to death.We had a fire going,and we let it die down ,and then we went to bed .My son woke up in the middle of the night.His sleeping bag was wet because his breath was freezing right there close to his face.So he gop up and unzipped the tent.Stepping outside,he said,"Dad,Dad,get up.You've got to see this .This is beautiful.I can see all the stars"
     I just stuck my head out of the sleeping bag because I kenw what he was talking about.The stars were extremely bright,and it looked like they had come down to be a little bit closer to us.It was absoublutely beautiful.The embers(木块得余烟）were glowing, and the fire was ringed with rocks.It was all franed beautiful.
     That, to me ,was life.The happpiness that night was what life is all about .It just doesn't get any better . Money could not have bought me what we felt.We were together in sort of a hardship situation ,even though we had asked for it.
     There was beauty.There was companionship.There was wonder in his voice.

    HOUSTON(Reuters)-Houston tops a U.S magazine's annual fattest cities list for the fourth time in five years,with four other Texas cities in top 25.
    Fast food restaurant--Houston has twice the national average number-are partly to blame for the dishonor,Men's Fitness editor-in-chief Neal Boulton said.
    "Americans work long hours, don't take vacations,and when they're faced with the worst food choices,they indulge(沉溺于）in those"he said
     High humidity,poor air quality and some of the nation's longest commutr(每天去上班的路程）times also helped Texas'most populous city unseat Detroit,the 2003heavy weight champion,the magazine said.
     Houston Mayor bill white ,who has worked with a major food company to develop healthy food products and the city's public schools to improve lunch menus, called the report"mostly ungrounded and nonsense".
     "On the other hand ,it calls attention to real issues the mayor is trying to deal with,"his spokesman ,Fank Michel,said.
      The magazine said it looked at factors such as the number and types of restaurents,park space,air quality,weather and the number of health clubs.
      Philadelphia ,Detroit,Memphis ,Tennessee,and Chicago followed Houston on the sevevth edition of the fat list.Texas cities Dallas,San Antonio,Fort Worth and El Paso were in the top 14,which Boulton said was no surprise.
      "It's pure big indulgence,just living big,and that's part of the culture ,"said Boulton.
       Seattle ranked as the fittest city .Austin and Arlington ,a Dallas-Fort Worth suburb,were the only Texas cities on the fit list.Austin was 19th and Arlington  22nd out of 25.

      I've been a nurse for years .I've loved and hated my job,which can be exciting and stressful.Holidays are the hardest.I don't think I could count the number of times I've been asked to work a holiday for another,because"YOu don't have a family"
     This is what I faced the year that I received my most beloved Christmas gift.
    I was to work the night shift on Christmas Eve,7p.m to 7 a.m. It was a bitterly cold night when I arrived at work .When I stepped onto my floor ,I sensed excitement.As I rounded the corner ,I saw all of my co-workers waiting for me with big smiles .I thought that something big was up ,and they were waiting for me to be part of it .Just then ,one of my co-workers Susan stepped forward,and I realized I wasn't just part of it ....I was it .
   Happy tears filled my eyes as Susan told meshe'd celebrated an early Chismas Eve with her daughter so that I could have the shift off and go home to be with my parents.Maggie had taken Susan's shift ,and two more had split Maggie's shift
   Grateful tears froze to my cheeks as I reached my car .there was hardly any traffic as I sped home .I sang along to the carols on the radio,alone on the highway ,But I was not alone in my heart ,for it was filled with thanks and wonder.
    My co-workers had given me the greatest Chrismas gift I'd ever received-their friendship and understanding .Because of that gift ,and the sweet memories of that night ,I will never be alone on Chrismas again.
